DFL 2017 Week 17: A New Winner is crowned and we all kinda scratch our heads...

Well, here we are.  17 week up, 17 weeks down.  some of us are happy, but most of us are pissed/displeased/disappointed.  But here we are.  And the winner is

Yep, that's right, the winner it he who should not be named.  So, congrats, D!  Well done! One good video deserves another:

But before we get drunk on my newfound ability to link videos directly into the blog post, let's take care of some bidness.

If you know what I mean... and I just mean the nitty gritty.  Get your
heads out of the gutter!
Pick 'ems.  We were all over the place this week.  Terri went 4-0, while everyone else went 2-2.  Nobody lined up:

Why can nobody every vote for me?  Myself included....

So, that means that the final count looks like this:

Ben:  54 (Gold Medal)
Phil:  53 (Silver Medal)
Crutch:  40 (Bronze Medal)
Josh:  33
Mike:  30
Terri:  29
Patrick:  15

Of course, everyone below Crutch:

And just so that we have the official records all together... Here's the break down of the elimination league:

The winners here being:
Ben @ week 6 - Gold
Patrick @ week 6 - Gold
RA Dave @ Week 5 - Bronze
Mike @ Week 5 - Bronze
Terri @ Week 5 - Bronze
Marie @ Week 5 - Bronze
Josh @ Week 4
Phil @ Week 3
McClennen @ Week 3
Skoot @ Week 3
Crutch @ week 3
Kyle @ Week 2 (congratulations on Melanie'ing - though at least Melanie actually made picks.  Maybe going out on a no pick should henceforth be known as Kyling?)

Man, I had forgotten what a shit hole of a season this was, even for picks!  (As a general rule, we usually make it to week 8 or 9.  I think that the longest was week 11 one year.)

Yeah, this sums up the season pretty well!

And now the Biggie.  The league itself.  We can't even go one week without some drama to let's run it down:

Championship game.
As we talked about earlier, D took this one to the bank.  So, he is our new champion.  The shitty thing is that the reason the Crutch lost is because Big Ben was benched at the last minute.  Now, if Crutch happened to have noticed that AND played his  back up QB - wait.  WTF? You don't have a backup QB?  I mean, I understand wanting to keep Peterson on your bench, because he had a season ending injury in week 12 - wait no.  I don't get it.  WTF, Crutch?

3rd place game.
Ho-lee fucking hell.  this was an almost 90 point beatdown.  Josh had a stellar game, even with Janeane Garofalo as QB (who kicked some serious ass).  Ben, on the other hand, got bitten so hard by the week 17 bug that I don't know what to call it.  Ajayi didn't play, Kelce didn't play, Matthews didn't play.  Cam did play, but he really didn't.  I mean, it was uncanny how much his team shit the bed.

Don't let Bob fool you. It was terrible.
5th place game
This game... not much happened.  It was just a seeding for next year's draft.  Kyle pulled off the victory, so he gets 5th place.  Kerry lost by a solid 20 points, and there's just not much else to say about that.

Playoff Bitch Bowl.
Nobody wants to make it to the playoffs, only to lose every.  single.  game.  But that's just how things play out.  And that person gets to be playoff bitch.  This year, Patrick gets that honor.   It wasn't for lack of trying through.  Patrick had the highest scoring player in the match up, and a few other solid perrformances.  However, h also had a few goose eggs.  (Grink wasn't targeted and Phily was shut out, so his kicker didn't get much of  chance.)  But that means.. that Patrick is the Playoff Bitch.

OK, so here are the official, official standings:

1 - D (Gold)
2 - Crutch (Silver)
3 - Josh (Bronze)
4 - Ben (Nothing!!!)
5 - Kyle
6 - Kerri
7 - Phil
8 - Patrick (Playoff Bitch)
9 - Terri (Queen of the Losers)
10 - McClennen
11 - Mike
12 - Skoot (The memorial Kookie slot)

And just as a trip down memory lane, here's how Yahoo! Thought that we'd finish after the draft:

1 - Kyle
2 - Skoot (Woah.)
3 - Kerry
4 - Phil
5 - Patrick
6 - Crutch
7 - Josh
8 - Ben
9 - D
10 - Terri
11 - McClennen
12 - Mike

So, well done, Skoot, for lowering the bar!

And if you wanna see the two lists above in graph form, here's Yahoo!'s take on it:

Hope that helps...

Let's take a look at moves:
Josh:  35
Phil:  34
Kyle:  28
D:  14
Cruch:  14
Patrick: 13
Mike:  11
Kerry:  10
McClennen:  9
Terri:  8
Ben:  8
Skoot:  2

Fun fact about the waiver wire.  It looks like there were only 10 conflicts all year:

Also, it looks like Josh was the big winner there.  Screw that guy.
So, here's the draft order for next year:

1 - Skoot
2 - Mike
3 - McClennen (don't fucking autodraft, hoser)
4 - Terri
5 - Patrick
6 - Phil
7- Kerry
8 - Kyle
9 -Josh
10 - Ben
11 - Crutch
12 - D

(Of course, if people want to trade picks, lemme know.)

As a side note, I'm not going to be totalling the players into tables this year.  As it turns out, you can do that through Yahoo! for the previous 2 years through the "Players" tab.

OK, now some bookkeeping. Next year, we'll do the rules voting again, as is the tradition.

Please feel free to send along any rules changes that you want to have voted on and I'll add them here, so that we don't forget.  I'm scratching my head about this season as it was kind of a shit show across the board, but that might just have been all of the big names getting hurt.  So, off the top of my head:

1 - We need to pull back the defenses. Seems like they were pretty consistently the high scorers in a few games week to week.  Maybe take out the special teams? Maybe knock back the TDs?  I dunno.  They just seemed high....
2 - Maybe flex out one of the starting WRs?  Give us a little more options?
3 - (From Ben and I'm REALLY hesitant to implement this, but I'll throw it out there as food for thought.)  End the season at week 16, instead of week 17.  Ben brought up a point that he couldn't actually field a team because all of his players were hurt or being protected in week 17.  (And in all fairness, this is Ben bitching that his team was too good AND he had kept a player on IR on his bench all season.  So, I'm personally not feeling too much pity, but he did get beaten pretty badly.)

OK that should be about it.  Hell of a good season this year, chaps.  See y'all in August(-ish)!
